Relay for Life 2011 -- July 29-30, 2011

What a great event.

I started this adventure on Friday around 10:30 am until Saturday morning around 10:00 ish. (No folks---I did not stay the night!!)  I thoroughly enjoyed walking the tracks at Willamette High School surrounded by these fun people.  There was one lady that I won't forget. She was so much fun and we shared a couple good giggles while on the track right before the survivor lap.  It was fun to connect with her again early this morning. One great lady.  We both share the no shower, no hair done, no make-up look as we were just fine!!  I also was able to sit with another survivor and his family (of whom I am proud to say are close friends) as we share photography. I always learn so much from RL.  He truly pushes me out of my comfort zone in regards to photography--of which I am appreciative of. Here we sat--RL, his wife (my buddy) and I at a real live concert. Between the two of us we got some great photos; and ML kept our seats for us. Yes the music was (at times) a bit loud for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed the company I was with.  I got home around 10:00 pm and was up again and back at Willamette High School by 6:00 am.  Many were still walking the tracks, even through the night.  About 7:00 am I heard the announce of "Zumba".   I 'thought' I have heard of Zumba so I went and checked it out. The leader of the Zumba group could really move!!  I enjoyed watching it and share laughs with others too.  No folks--I did not do any Zumba.  Many, many, many years ago I 'could have' moved that quick but not now.

Also, I was reminded of my family members, extended family members and friends who have walked through cancer.  There was so much to take in: release of the butterfly and the meaning; the survivor lap;the entertainment and the many vendors. This was an event that I will return to next year.  Veronica and Dale did an awesome job, and I am so proud of them.
